The peloton seemed in no mood to let a break away get established. Rider after rider would put in an attack only to have others bridge across bringing the peloton with them. Even at 25 kilometers covered, the trio of Manuel Senni (BMC), Quentin Jauregui (Ag2r La Mondiale) and Gregor Muhlberger (Bora-Hansgrohe) could see both riders bridging forward and the peloton closing in. I'm sure as soon as they are caught, some one else will try an escape again.
