Marco Frapporti (Vini-Zabu-KTM) looked across to Manuele Boaro (Astana) as if to say, "You go chase them down." The duo of Matha Bais (Androni Giocattoli-Sidermac) and Alessandro Tonelli (Bardiani-CSF-Faizane) had ridden off the front of the trio, the third rider being Damiano Cimi (Gazprom-RusVelo). The five were the remaining guys off the front of the peloton, who had been out there for 250 kilometers. Surely, this will be the longest breakaway of the 2020 Pro Cycling Season. The quintet did join back together in their efforts to keep the peloton at bay.
