It is very rare to get to see two National Championship jerseys duke it out for a stage win. It is even more exciting when the two nations fighting for the win are Germany and France when you consider their geo-political history over the last 200 hundred years. Today, it was Andre Greipel (Lotto Soudal) just edging out Arnaud Demare (FDJ) for the victory. Greipel is the current German National Road Racing Champion and Demare is the Champion of France. This is a much saner way for these two great countries to contest their respective national prides.
